a few of you read that we took in the 2 leos today the blizzard female laid 1 egg that i think is an infertal and that brought up a few more ?s for me the male i was told had a prolapsed hemipine that had to be amputated (ouch) so my first ? is what is the likelyhood that he will breed and will he have fertility issues or could the infertal egg be that she has lost to much weight and it was just an infertal due to that she is small and i seperated her but the previeous owner housed them all together any help or opinions would be great thanks

Yes males with one working hemipine can still reproduce if given enough time to properly heal.

As for the 2nd there are alot of things that could play into it...if he was breeding her young then she will more than likely go through the process but still give you small infertile eggs but if this is her first clutch it sometimes takes them awhile to get it right. You want to make sure she has more than she can eat because she will probably continue to lay eggs for awhile and you don't need more issues.

highly doubtful that he had TWO prolapsed hemipenes.
probably be able to do the deed with his good log.
why do you think the egg is infertile ?
you need to clarify what you're trying to get at.
your not very clear.
take a deep breath and slowly explain what it exactly is that you'd like to know, so we can better assist you.

I've had male lizards reproduce with only one barrel. Tough little soldiers they are.

If the egg is small and smushy its "probably" not fertile. However, I've had some lizards hatch from some very shoddy looking eggs. So it doesnt hurt to incubate it anyway if you're interested. Ive had eggs snap back. They start out kinda flat, dented, smooshed and after a couple days in the incubator they come back and hatch. And of course Ive had bad looking eggs get worse. But it doesnt hurt to try.

As JChandler mentioned its hard to say exactly why the egg was infertile. Could be a lot of things. I second the notion to feed her as much as she will consume. And make sure she has her calcium dish. I like to give laying females a pinkie here and there. It helps beef them up. I have one female in particular who is a machine. She drops eggs like a pez dispenser. So I use pinkies to help keep her weight up. If your girl is large enough to take a pinkie Id go for it.
