I went to put my to carpets together today and I found out that were two males. This is my first year breeding and when I bought them the guy told me they were a pair( I was assuming he ment male and female). well I guess he was wrong because man did they beat each other up. Luckily I got them apart before they bit each other or caused any real damage! wow! well I guess this just gives me another reason to get some more snakes. did this ever happen to anybody when you thought you had a male and female and surprize you didn't.

not the kinda surprise i'd be too happy about.
maybe he was using the 'ol pair=two trick...
maybe it was unintentional...
maybe you could trade one for a female ...
at least you didn't have any serious injuries.
hope you work it out,

Not with carpets but I have done it with corns in the past without checking them...probe probe and probe again....
Maybe he just meant it was a pair of snakes...
Sorry to hear that. I would be pretty upset if I ended up getting two males. Look on the bright side though, you get to buy a new snake.

That does suck sorry for all the wasted time. I had two male bp's try and locked up before.
I also had a female in my breeding rotation a couple years ago, well long story short she went off feed and started cruising the tub so I pulled her out probed her and what do you know male. Well I gave to the local pet shop and my buddy Gib came there right after I left and took him home. A couple months later my male laid 5 eggs..:D Damn
Wasn't one of my better moments

ya Im bummed out because I was looking forward to taking a shot at breeding this year but Im in the market for some females to raise them up and hopefully in a couple seasons Ill be in the game. I know I hear alot of talk about only getting babies and raising them up yourself but maybe I should look into getting some proven breeder girls. Im really in no rush and I want to do it right. as far as the guy I bought it from I dont think he was trying to get over or anything I just think maybe he needed some more practice on sexing snakes.
With my Python Petes I bought 9 babies - Raised them up for a while and kept the best looking 3 and sold the rest...I have always raised babies myself - Hell that's half the fun...:D
