Well, I've been searching everywhere for a heater for my closet-incubator. The problem I was having was finding a heater under 500 watts that doesn't take up much room and produce light. I wanted it under 500 watts so I could use it with a proportional thermostat. Then finally last week I happened upon a online heater store and found the perfect heater for my application. I found a 24" electric baseboard heater that is 300 watts. :wamma: I just thought I would share the wealth of the website and heater. I'm also thinking of using a 36" 600 watt version for ambient temps in the snake room instead of my big oil filled radiator. Their shipping was great, 1 week from order to delivery. :yessir:

They sell a 3' version at Home Depot. I never checked the wattage but next time Im there I'll peep it.
BTW you can find the 24" version at any electrical supply shop. Problem is they sometimes only sell to licensed electricians. Not all, but some.
That one appears to be hardwired. Im sure it could be rigged up to plug in but Im guessing you are going to have it permanently installed. Not a bad idea at all. Those things are much more effecient than the plug in oil filled radiator types. OOF do those things suck juice!
As an FYI when selecting your heater for the snakeroom the bigger the better. The more linear feet you have the more you'll save. The heater doesnt have to work as hard. A 3' heater is very small. I'd go as big as the wall will allow. And mount it on an exterior wall if possible. If you can wrap a second wall go for it. You can fit up to 14' linear feet on one double pole 20 amp breaker safely. So you could run an 8' and a 6' on one breaker and one T-stat. These heaters also come oil filled. They are a bit more price wise but well worth it in the long run. They sell wall T-stats that can be programmed and work nicely with these types of heaters. It's important to get the right T-stat for these heaters. Ones specifically designed for baseboard electric heat. They come digital with all sorts of features. Night drops, the whole shebang.
You may already know all this stuff I just like talking about heating systems :D

Also - worth noting, the larger the heater - the less gradient you will have in your incubator, so you will be able to dial your settings in a little more accurately and consistantly across your space.

I suppose just about any any heating device of the proper wattage would work. Ive personally never seen nor used a kennel heating pad. But Ive messed with a lot of electric baseboard :D

V.... your talking bout wrapping the baseboards around the room.... but what about if this room happens to be a herp room with racks on every wall?
Currently I am using an oil filled radiator from wal-mart... but Im always looking for better.
