Toni, do they have a higher metabolism? Are they cuddlers? Give us some details on them. They definitely are unique.

We free feed .It does take more energy to keep warm . They feel warm to the touch and soft...very soft....not sticky or rubbery....ore like chamois. They are not stuck up like regular cats and are very intelligent and love to be touched and talked to . they run to meet me at the door and wag their tails . I have one that fetches .One that hollers momma ...they have very distinct personalities . They use their hands like a monkey and often will look you in the face and cup your chin or cheek . They like to stand up on their hind feet like a prairie dog or meer cat .
They cuddle and pile up . Love the warm spots on the monitors and the tv etc .
The short ones are just as agile as the long leggers .
Needless to say I am smitten . Cats always seemed so stuck up to me but these are more like a dog...but smarter .

They love sweaters ....I just go to the flea market and get some infant or toddler joggers and cut the sleeve or legs off and make arm holes...for the tiny kittens I use toddler socks and tops of tube socks as they grow .

I don't mind the big eyes and lack of hair... but I'm really not big on the short legs at all.

I do like cats though and have 3 myself. None of them are your stuck up type. Two know their names and come when called, one fetches, and one is just all around a really cool cat, very outgoing, and loves even the people she's never met before.

I did not see it as a cat at first. Very different. Leah and Dana both love cats and are both allergic so they just suffer and vacumn alot to keep the one they have. Are they expensive? (They look like they would be) Autumn is ageing and maybe Leah would like one of these as her next cat.

Just googled minskin and looked at pictures. They are not all hairless. Some look like they've had a perm. :) Interesting.

Probably wrong about the not all hairless. They have pictures of other dwarf cats along with the minskins. (Duh... Skins means hairless?) The miniPer is cute.

I guess I had stuck up cats when growing up .

I was freaked out about the short legs before I learned more about it and raised a couple to get 1st hand observation .

I do love the elegance of the sphynx we have also which have big eyes no hair and long legs .

Minskins can have a variety of coat but the standard is furpints . This one is mainly bald with fine furpoints where they are desired in order to show . Her sister ha sa tight rex like coat and some are bald or fully coated...the furpointed are the only ones that can be shown.

The allergies are tot he dander mainly and the hairless still have dander but I can tolerate them .If one of the regular coated cats gets to close for too long I get problems .
You can just wipe the hairless ones daily or however often you want with baby wipes or a warm rag and keep their dander down even more. Cant really get a furry one wiped down .
The short ones are harder to come by . May get 1 per litter and sometimes none...sometimes more . Since we breed only to keep something from our litter to advance our program...that cuts down on availability as well .
I have done some outcrosses to cats with coats to improve the head type and bring in new blood so when you do that you have to breed additional generations to get where you want .
Since we breed sphynx as well we do tend to have more long leggers to place as pets than short cats . You get short and long leggeds in same litter when breeding short cats .

Now that I can see the picture -- I will say that the pictures are gorgeous -- still undecided on the cat tho -- but I can see how you could love them if it was your cup o tea!:wamma:
