Hi everyone,

I think I might have a dumb question, but I am not a Ball python breeder so that is why I am posting. My son has a pair of Ball pythons, just normals, and they have been probed to be mal and female. They are about 3 -4 years old and can feed on a small rat, but prefer mice. The question I have is can anyone give him some basics about when to put them together, time of year, temps, humidity, anything that could help him get started. These are his pets and he wants to bust out with some of his very own babies.

I appreciate any help. here is a picture he took of one of them...

Thanks,

Paul & Vaughan

Here's a good link for breeding.

First off be sure you are prepared for the offspring -- it is hard to find homes for normal ball pythons - are you able to house, feed and care for 6 or 8 new snakes until you find homes for them?

From there it's pretty much letting mother nature take it's course. Most people start pairing them up in October and breed till they see Mom ovulate the following spring. Some people lower temps some people go by strict lighting hours and some of us just toss them together and say a prayer to the ball gods.

The link Bill posted above is a wonderful tutorial.

Good luck!
